After his first trip to Trincomalee in Sri Lanka, Alvin was back with a new set of friends to try out Kirinda and this time they brought with them sunshine and flat conditions.

Having had a great trip in Trinco, Alvin and his boys had high expectations for some good action on both popping and jigging!

The first day set off right away with a 30kg Doggie caught on jigging on the deeper spots. This was followed by a GT and later a GT on popping.

Having warmed up their muscles for the rest of the trip the GT started coming and so did the bites from other species too, including a King mackerel of 20kg which is a new record for Alvin. Congrats!

As the diversity of species is so big in Sri Lanka, they also tried light and micro jigging on the popping spots and had great, constant action when hooking up to spotted king mackerel, gold spot and all the other species that strip the line off your Stella 1000!

The next few days the guys managed 40 bites popping strong in the blistering hot sun and landed several fish between 15-20kg.

The last day came around far too quickly and the weather changed, with more wind and overcast skies bringing heavy rainfall. This change in the weather increased the fish activity and they had 25 bites on popping during the course of the day.

Daniel was able to land a personal record at 23kg and everyone on board was really happy for him.

At the end of the day Perry Tsai hooked what would have been the fish of the trip, just steaming away from the boat. Unfortunately after a short while on the hook the hooks lost their grip and left Perry with a slack line.

So all in a great trip for Alvin & his friends. We look forward to seeing them all again soon.

Tight lines.
